Held on 8 October 2026, the Mayor's Safer Communities Fund Awards brought together organisations from across West Yorkshire at the beautiful Crossley Gallery within the historic Dean Clough Mills, Halifax, to celebrate projects making a positive difference in people's lives and local communities.
More than £400,000 was awarded to 44 groups supporting crime prevention, youth development, community safety and vulnerable residents.
The funding, made possible through money seized from criminals, will help grassroots organisations continue their vital work in creating safer and stronger communities.
Since its formation in 2006, the Regiment has earned a reputation for courage, professionalism and service, carrying forward the proud traditions of Yorkshire's historic regiments. It was a pleasure to help mark this important milestone and pay tribute to all those who have served.
The Royal Yorkshire Regiment was formed on 6 June 2006 and traces its heritage to the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire, the Green Howards and the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. It was granted the title "Royal" in 2023.

The event was filled with joy, pride, and togetherness, reflecting the diverse and vibrant spirit of the city.
The Cedar Court Hotel was the venue as the Yorkshire Sikh Forum (YSF) hosted its Vaisakhi Celebration on Thursday, May 22.
The event drew a large and diverse gathering from across the region to commemorate one of the most significant festivals in the Sikh calendar.
